August

September 3, 2008 6:55 am

WOW! August flew by so quickly.

It started with Levi having pneumonia, Jack having an ear infection & wheezing, & Donald having strep throat & it ended with me (Judith) having tonsillitis, & the boys having troubles with allergies. & it’s NOT even winter yet!!!

Levi is almost 3! His big t-rex party is on Saturday! He is so excited! He really is growing up so fast. He loves to learn! We “play” school, and I am amazed at how fast he learns & to see what interests him. He has learned to recognize numbers and the letters to his name. He draws the letter L on every sheet of paper he can find!

Jack is almost 7 months old already and is beginning to crawl!!! He pulls his body along with his hands. He can get to anything he is NOT suppose to have! He just began rocking back and forth on his knees. He has 2 sweet little teeth & received his first haircut (due to much prompting on Daddy’s part) He sits and plays, and loves to BOUNCE!!! He is very energetic & keeps himself entertained for long periods of time. He truly is such an easy baby.

We are constantly reminded how blessed we are to have healthy children. Health can be so easily taken for granted. It humbles me to watch our children develop properly and on time. To God be the Glory!

Diaperless & Aunt Corrie meets Jack

July 18, 2008 6:43 am

Levi is officially out of diapers for about a month now!!! YAY! He is doing AWESOME as a big boy & it is great not having 2 in diapers!

Aunt Corrie came home Tuesday. We have had fun swimming with her and just hanging out. Jack loves to sit in her lap and try to grab her glasses. Levi thinks she is quite funny when she teases him. We are going to Indiana on Monday with her and Oma to visit Aunt Rose and meet 2nd cousin Harrison Coon.

Jack’s noggin is on the mend. He had a low grade fever this week & LOTS of congestion but the ears were clear. He slept for 7 hours last night (which for him is LONG!) so we know are going to work on making that a trend!

enjoy the new pictures in the gallery under the July album!

Jack’s Skull Fracture

July 8, 2008 12:18 pm

–Well, Jack now has a great story to tell his kids one day! Two & half weeks ago, Jack & the traveling swing fell off the table at Opa & Oma’s house. I know, I know the table isn’t the safest place to set those, but the alternative was on the floor where he would be poked, pushed, and squeezed by his cousins & brother! We were all standing in the kitchen when it happened, needless to say sheer panic abrupt-ed. He landed on the rug still strapped in. He was, I think, more angry that it woke him up then anything. I checked him over, & wouldn’t let him go back to sleep for awhile. He seemed fine, no loss of consciousness or vomiting. The rest of the day he was a little more fussy than normal, but was eating & sleeping just fine. The next morning I called the pediatrician, I was concerned of ear infection because he was so congested and mentioned the fall. They asked all the normal questions and said I could bring him in, but there wasn’t much they would do except peek in his ears. Considering he was just happy & playing, I didn’t see the need to take him. When he woke up from his nap at 3:30, I noticed his head was completely deformed. He had a big fluid pocket on the right side of his head that was pushing his right ear down towards the ground. At first, I was in such shock and thought I was just seeing things, so I walked calmly to Donald and told him to turn around and look at Jack’s head. He immediately freaked out and wanted to go to the ER. Levi was still taking his nap, so we called the pediatrician’s office and told them we were coming in and then called a friend of ours who lives behind us to come over and stay with Levi. Jack in the mean time was happy and smiling and acting like nothing was wrong!!!! The doctor did not seem too concerned especially since Jack was so alert and content. She thought it could possibly be one of three things: a skull fracture, an infection or just a bug bite that had a bad reaction. She sent us for a CT- Scan since we did not know exactly the cause of edema. We went to Vanderbilt, had the CT-Scan (Jack was strapped down & could not move anything :( he did great though!) after 20 minutes we got a call from the Peds office saying Jack had a skull fracture. Everyone seemed shocked, because he was not fussy or crying even when they pushed on his head. To make a long story short, we had to get admitted through the ER and see the neurosurgeon, who walked in for 2 seconds and said we see this often, nothing we can do, it will heal on it’s own. Then we got discharged and got to take our sweet little man home!!!! God is good & we just praise HIM for His protection over Jack.

Jack has had a recheck and is doing great! The boy is one tough fellow with a tough noggin! He gained 1/2 lb just in the 6 days between the fall and recheck! probably because Mommy fed him everytime he fussed ( I hated to have him cry, I didn’t want his head to hurt :(

We finally moved Jack into his own room! I don’t know why it was so hard for me this time. Levi was out at 5 weeks!!!! Jack is doing fine, still a little porker and needing to eat at least 2x during the night, but I am working on that, because I am exhausted!!!!

Hope everyone is having a fun-filled summer!

Aruba Vacation

June 25, 2008 12:07 pm

We just got back from a week in Aruba. Gone are the days of coming home rested and relaxed! Packing, hauling, & toting around things for 2 kids all week wears you out! We still had a blast and would do it over again in a heartbeat (after we catch up on some sleep:)

Levi LOVED the beach, ocean, & pool. He is our little fish. Stayed in the water until he was MADE to get out. He now jumps in the pool off the side and goes under water! He loved spending time with his cousins, and especially loved waking up and getting to go to Opa & Oma’s room in the morning (we all had connecting rooms)

Jack was such a good baby the whole trip. He loved the boat ride over to the beach. He just hung out and ate & slept the whole time. He did great on the plane rides, the last one he started to get cranky but we were ALL a little cranky by then!!!

Enjoy the new pictures in the gallery!

Almost there!

May 27, 2008 6:16 pm

We are ALMOST done with the house. We have until Saturday in the apartment, so we have A LOT to do in the next few days. We are ready to have our “normal” routine back and to be together more often! The house looks beautiful and we are excited to be moving in it. We went to Donald’s grandparents over Memorial Day weekend. His Aunt Teresa had flown in from S.C to meet Jack. The boys did excellent traveling, and loved getting all kinds of attention. Levi especially liked sleeping downstairs in the basement on the floor by his daddy and mommy - he kept saying we were camping! There are some new pictures in the May album. ENJOY!

May

May 16, 2008 2:04 pm

We have been BUSY! The house is ALMOST done, and it looks fantastic. Donald (along with his parents) have put in many, many hours doing the finishing touches, and I am sure he (& they) will be glad when we finally can move in. We just lack finishing the hardwood, carpet, some paint, and landscaping, and some other minor projects. We are hoping to be in at the end of this month. The boys continue to grow and change constantly. Levi is such a little man. He has really “grown up” in the last few weeks. He carries on the most comical conversations that I have ever heard. He seems to learn new facts everyday. For Mother’s Day, he kept telling me Happy Birthday! He loves playing outside, and can go about 90 mph on a ride-on buggy. (I’m not lying the kid goes faster than I can walk- and I walk FAST!) Jack is now 3 1/2 months and growing like a weed. He is still a very content baby, and loves to be played with and talked to. He is getting very close to rolling over, and loves when Levi “plays” with him. Surprising Levi is very gentle and thinks it’s fun when Jack plays on the floor near him. What sweet boys - when they want to be!!!I posted some new pictures in the April & May albums, ENJOY!

Jack’s 2 month check up

April 17, 2008 4:59 pm

Jack had his 2 month check up on Monday. He weighs 13 lbs 6 oz! He is over the 75th percentile for his weight! He is growing and developing right on target and tolerated his shots well. He is still a very content baby, and loves to smile and is starting to really “talk”

Levi is still doing well as the “big” brother. He truly loves Jack, and Jack loves Levi! Levi loves the warm weather and getting to play outside! I will be glad when our house is done and we are out of the apartments, because Levi will get to play more often outside!

Not too much has been going on with the house this week. Donald has had to stay at home most nights this week. I somehow got a pinched nerve in my shoulder on Monday, and after my doctors visit on Tuesday was quite out of it :) It is slowly healing, so hopefully Donald can get back to the house this weekend to finish up painting and start on tile. Levi has not minded that Mommy was out of commission because that meant more time at Opa and Oma’s house!!!! :)

Hope everyone is enjoying the spring weather and the beautiful nature!

April Showers

April 9, 2008 1:04 pm

Hard to believe we are already into the month of April!

The weather here is slowly warming up, we have had a couple of beautiful days! We have taken full advantage of them by setting Levi loose outside to rid of some of his energy!

Jack is now 2 months old! He goes next week for his check-up & shots. We can’t wait to see how much the little porker weighs. We are guessing close to 15 lbs! Jack is still such a happy baby, not much of a cuddler though like his brother was/is. My (Judith) Aunt Lona & Aunt Rose were able to meet him last week. Oma even allowed Aunt Lona to give Jack a bath! (bathtime is Oma’s favorite thing!)

Levi is LOUD! He has quite the booming voice, definitely could be an evangelist one day! He loves telling & hearing stories. He has quite the imagination! He is already looking forward to “vacation” with his cousins! He still has to wait 2 months for that though! He woke up today with a temperature & saying his head & belly hurt. I knew he wasn’t faking when he feel asleep on the couch watching “Land before Time”!!!! Hopefully he will get over it soon.

The house looks great! The wood floors are done (besides sanding & poly) The trim is up downstairs and getting painted. Donald is very optimistic :) and thinks we will be able to move in - in May, but I am more realistic :) and think June! We will see though!

Levi’s Haircut & Jack 7 weeks old

March 28, 2008 11:18 am

So I took Levi to a good ole’ southern barber shop, because Daddy was suppose to have cut his hair now for WEEKS! :) I should have known it was a mistake when the barbor asked if me if Levi had a comb over :) I told him that we just kinda spiked it alittle….in barber language I guess that means FLATTOP!!!! 3 haircuts these sweet old men can cut : comb over, buzzed off, or flattop. and yes Levi walked out of there with a flat top. I have to admit I have not seen one of those in quite some time, or have I seen the “famous” round brush that my brother Tim use to have to get the hair to stick up like that. We are hopeful that once it is washed that he will not look like he belongs in the MC hammer era! Levi is quite proud of himself, and especially enjoyed the gum that the man gave him after the haircut! I guess we should stick to Daddy cutting his hair!

Jack is now 7 weeks old, and growing like a weed! He is getting so heavy! he still isn’t sleeping through the night but goes longer at night and once he eats goes straight back to sleep. He is a very content baby, and loves to smile and coo. His 2 month checkup is coming up soon. I can’t wait to see how much he weighs!

Our house is coming along. They finished the hardwoods downstairs and are finishing them up in Donald’s office upstairs. They will begin tiling soon. The primer on the walls is almost complete, and the final coats of paint will be put on next week or so.

Easter

March 23, 2008 12:53 pm

dsc_0021.jpg

We hope everyone has had a blessed Easter rejoicing in the fact that our Saviour LIVES!

It was quite cold here. I still made Jack wear his Easter outfit, but I was nice and let Levi wear pants instead of his shorts :)

Jack is getting quite big. He is outgrowing all his 0-3 months clothes. He is such a happy and content baby. He smiles all the time and is trying to coo and babble. He is not a cuddle bug like Levi was though. He likes to be put down especially when tired. He is slowly sleeping longer periods at night (up to 6 hours) which is nice for Mommy!

Levi seems to grow up more and more each day. He comes up with the crazy ideas and stories. The other day we were at Lowes & he thought the cashier looked like a penguin and decided to tell her so and very loudly!!!! Funny thing is he had a point!!! Her hair had red streaks going down both sides by her ears and she had on an eskimo type jacket. He nevers ceases to amuse us! We were explaining Easter & what Jesus did for us. When I told him Jesus was in Heaven now, he asked “where is He going to go next?” I had to explain that’s where He stays, and he asked if he could go to. We told him if he loved Jesus & when he got bigger asked Jesus to forgive him for disobeying & being a bad boy sometimes :) and asked Jesus in his heart that he could go to heaven too. He thought for a minute and smiled and said ” I do love Jesus” & then in the same breath asked if he could “get a prize” Long story - short- when he answers “hard” Bible trivia questions he gets a sticker/prize, so he thought he was answering a “hard” question! I told him his prize would be living in Heaven with Jesus. He seemed fine with that!!!!

It’s amazing how kids digest information! We hope everyone is doing well…….our house is coming along. Donald & his dad are laying the hardwood floors, and Donald’s mom has been busy priming the walls….now if only I can decide on our colors!!!!! swatches and the whole wall painted that color look ALOT different :)
